Aura farming trend sparks youth gatherings across Spain

A social media phenomenon known as ‘aura farming’ is transitioning from digital platforms like TikTok to physical gatherings across Spain. The trend involves young people engaging in symbolic duels through poses, gestures, and attitudes intended to demonstrate charisma, confidence, and presence.

Various Spanish cities have already hosted or scheduled these events. Córdoba is set to host a battle on August 30 at the Avión del Arcángel. Other locations including Zaragoza, Vigo, Talavera de la Reina, Valladolid, Pamplona, and A Coruña have also organized or participated in these meetups. In Burgos, a recent gathering of hundreds of adolescents required intervention by local police to disperse the crowd.

Sociologists and psychologists note that these self-organized mass gatherings by Generation Alpha reflect a search for ‘third places’—social spaces outside of home and school—as youth seek physical connection in an increasingly digital world.
