Australasia Bus & Coach Expo 2026 highlights industry growth and Wrightbus zero‑emission launch in Australia

The Australasia Bus & Coach Expo was held at Sydney Showground on July 15‑16, drawing more than 4,300 participants from Australia and overseas. The two‑day event featured around 80 buses and coaches, over 120 exhibition booths and a range of new vehicles, technologies and services aimed at the passenger‑transport sector. BusNSW executive director Matt Threlkeld thanked exhibitors, sponsors, visitors and the NSW government, including Roads and Regional Transport Minister Jenny Aitchison, for their support, describing the Expo as an unrivalled opportunity for operators, manufacturers and suppliers to network and discuss industry challenges.

At the same Expo, British zero‑emission bus maker Wrightbus announced the re‑launch of its Australian operations. Celebrating its 80th anniversary, Wrightbus highlighted a fleet of about 3,000 zero‑emission vehicles already operating in the UK and Europe and presented its long‑term commitment to the Australian market. The announcement was made by Wrightbus executives and the British Consul General, emphasizing historic links dating back to the company's first exports to Canberra three decades ago. Daniel Castro was named regional director for the new Asia‑Pacific operation, signalling a major push for sustainable public‑transport solutions in Australia.
