Australia wins Platu25 Sailing World Championship

The Platu25 Sailing World Championship concluded on September 19 in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy. The Australian team Aftershock, led by Mark Griffith, secured the world title after a dominant performance, winning seven out of the ten completed races.

Uncertain weather conditions heavily impacted the final day, limiting the competition to only one race out of the twelve originally scheduled. Despite the weather, the event saw intense competition for the remaining podium spots. The Senigallia-based Associazione Velica Senigallia ASD, sailing the boat ‘Fandango’, earned the silver medal. The crew, led by helmsman Marco Angiolini, maintained a consistent performance to secure second place ahead of the Lithuanian team led by Radvilas Janulonis, who took third.

Organizers from the Circolo Nautico Sambenedettese noted the prestige of the event, which was supported by local municipalities and regional authorities.
