Australian Bureau of Statistics urges completion of 2026 Census
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is urging households that missed Census night to complete their 2026 Census forms. More than 10 million households have already submitted their responses.
Census national spokesperson Emily Walter noted that participation is compulsory. Households that have not yet responded may receive reminder letters or visits from Census field staff in the coming weeks. Residents can complete the process online or request paper forms by contacting the ABS directly.
The ABS provides support for those requiring assistance, including access to the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) for non-English speakers. The collected data is used by governments to plan and deliver vital services, and by businesses to understand changing population needs.
