Australian Census 2026 calls on Ukrainian community and volunteers to participate
The Australian Bureau of Statistics will conduct the Census of Population and Housing on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. The five‑year count includes every person and household in Australia, regardless of citizenship or visa status, and informs decisions on transport, schools, health care, infrastructure and business.
The Ukrainian Community of Queensland encourages people of Ukrainian ancestry to record Ukrainian language, ancestry and religious affiliation on the form so the community receives appropriate funding and services. The Census now also asks respondents whether they performed any unpaid voluntary work in the past 12 months, enabling a better understanding of volunteer contributions across New South Wales and the nation.
Accurate responses are confidential and protected by law, and the data will be used to plan local services and allocate resources for communities and the volunteering sector.
