Australian drama 'The Airport Chaplain' to debut on SBS and stream worldwide on Netflix

The eight‑part series The Airport Chaplain will premiere on SBS on 26 August 2026. Starring Hugo Weaving as airport chaplain Tobias Wallace and Shabana Azeez as his new terminal manager, the drama follows the lives of staff and travellers at a busy international airport.

Produced by Wooden Horse, the series will also be available on SBS On Demand with subtitles in Arabic, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese. Netflix has secured worldwide rights (outside Australia) and will release the show concurrently in over 190 territories, following a world‑premiere screening at the Melbourne International Film Festival. Season 2 development is already underway.
