Australian investors explore Philippine energy and infrastructure opportunities

A delegation of major Australian institutional investors, managing nearly AUD 1.4 trillion in assets, is visiting the Philippines to explore investment opportunities in energy, infrastructure, and other strategic sectors. The delegation includes representatives from AustralianSuper, IFM Investors, Macquarie Asset Management, Pentagreen Capital, and Plenary Group.

During the visit, scheduled for September 8-9, the investors will meet with Philippine business leaders, senior government officials, and major project sponsors. The discussions aim to assess opportunities related to the Philippines’ energy transition and infrastructure expansion plans.

Some participating investors are supported by the Australian Government’s AUD 2 billion Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility, administered by Export Finance Australia. Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown noted that the visit aligns with ‘Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040’ and occurs during the 80th anniversary year of Australia-Philippines diplomatic relations.
