Philippine energy and infrastructure development

The Philippines is engaging in efforts to bolster its energy and infrastructure sectors through both foreign investment interest and domestic exploration initiatives.

In early September 2026, a delegation of major Australian institutional investors, managing nearly AUD 1.4 trillion in assets, visited the Philippines to explore opportunities in energy, infrastructure, and other strategic sectors. Supported by the Australian Government’s AUD 2 billion Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility, the delegation met with government officials and business leaders to assess the country’s energy transition and infrastructure expansion plans.

Following these discussions, the Philippine Department of Energy announced a ₱2.8 billion government-funded initiative to rediscover the nation’s oil and gas potential. The Philippine Gradiometry and Seismic Survey Project will involve geophysical surveys covering 120,000 square kilometers across the Agusan-Davao and Visayan basins. This project, the first large-scale state-funded exploration mapping in nearly 40 years, aims to lower exploration risks and attract private sector interest.
