Australian police end homicide probe after lifelike doll found in suitcase

Australian police have concluded a homicide investigation after discovering that what appeared to be human remains inside a discarded suitcase was actually a highly realistic lifelike doll.

The discovery occurred in Oallen, a small town southwest of Sydney, when two men spotted a suitcase abandoned on the side of a road. Upon opening it, they believed they had found the body of a deceased woman. New South Wales Police established a crime scene and deployed a task force of investigators and forensic experts to examine the contents.

Superintendent Linda Bradbury noted that the item was “very realistic in terms of looking like human remains.” Forensic examinations revealed the object was a doll equipped with clothing, hair, and a nose piercing. The doll also featured markings that “resembled bruises and grazes,” which contributed to the initial belief that it was a victim of a crime. Following these findings, police officially ended the investigation.
