Kelingking Beach: Australian tourist dies in cliff fall

An Australian woman, identified as 29-year-old Brianna Lani Cronin from Queensland, died after falling approximately 80 meters from a cliff at Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida, near Bali.

The incident occurred on a Saturday morning when tourists alerted a lifeguard to a woman who appeared to be stranded on the cliffside. While rescue efforts were being organized, Cronin reportedly slipped while attempting to find an independent path toward the cliff edge. She was found deceased on the rocky shoreline below, having sustained multiple fractures and lacerations.

Search and rescue teams, including Basarnas Bali and the Indonesian Navy, faced significant challenges during the evacuation. High waves prevented a sea-based retrieval, forcing rescuers to carry the body via stretcher up a steep, narrow staircase for approximately 1.5 hours.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the fall. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the family. Queensland Premier David Crisafulli expressed condolences following the tragedy.
