Australian Trucking Association relaunches SafeT360 truck safety campaign
The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has relaunched its SafeT360 campaign ahead of Truck Week 2026 on 11 May. The program targets car drivers, especially young motorists, teaching safe interaction with heavy trucks through three instructional videos on blind spots, stopping distances and overtaking, and an immersive experience using a purpose‑built trailer equipped with multi‑seat VR goggles.
Originally delivered between 2019 and 2022, the campaign was paused by the COVID‑19 pandemic. In June 2024, On the Road Media/Steering the Future took ownership of the trailer and continued the outreach, leveraging ATA’s career and safety resources. ATA CEO Mathew Munro said the initiative lets participants “sit in the cab of a truck and experience firsthand the challenges drivers face every day.” The campaign has attracted overseas interest, including a request from Ireland’s Kildare County Council to use the videos for its Road Safety Week.
The ATA represents about 60,000 businesses and 200,000 workers in Australia’s trucking industry, and the renewed SafeT360 effort aims to reduce driver distraction, unsafe lane changes and misunderstandings about the space trucks require.
