Austria and Algeria seek to expand energy and industrial partnerships

Austria and Algeria are seeking to deepen economic cooperation, particularly in the energy sector. During an Algeria-Austria business forum in Algiers, an Austrian economic delegation led by Federal Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, including 22 companies, expressed strong interest in the Algerian market.

Key areas for potential partnership include renewable energy, hydrogen production, green technologies, agriculture, and industrial modernization. Austrian officials, including Ambassador Wolfgang Spadinger and Jochen Danninger of the Federal Economic Chamber, highlighted Algeria’s potential role in the southern hydrogen corridor to Europe. They emphasized the importance of technology transfer, local production, and establishing more predictable investment procedures to facilitate these growing industrial ties.
