Austria boosts renewable power with 35 MW wind farm and 14 MW agri‑PV plant

Wien Energie commissioned the 35‑megawatt Ebreichsdorf wind park, comprising ten Vestas V117 turbines that will generate about 76,000 MWh of clean electricity each year – enough for roughly 20,000 Austrian households and three times the local demand. The project follows a 14‑year planning process and doubles the company’s wind capacity to 520 MW, part of a national target of 1,000 MW by 2026 and 1,800 MW by 2030.

Meanwhile, Energie AG broke ground on the largest agri‑photovoltaic installation in Upper Austria at Pennewang. The 14.43 MWp facility, using tracker‑mounted panels, will produce around 18.9 GWh annually and supply power to about 5,400 homes while keeping over 75 % of the land available for farming. The plant is expected to cut CO₂ emissions by roughly 137,000 tonnes over 30 years and forms part of a €4 billion investment plan for renewable energy through 2035.
