In late July 2026 Austria accelerated its clean‑energy transition. On 25 July, Wien Energie commissioned the 35 MW Ebreichsdorf wind park, doubling its wind capacity to 520 MW and moving toward national targets of 1 000 MW by 2026 and 1 800 MW by 2030. The same day, Energie AG began construction of a 14.4 MWp agri‑photovoltaic plant in Upper Austria, slated to generate 18.9 GWh annually while preserving agricultural land.

Four days later, the town of Seekirchen reported the installation of a 0.4 MW photovoltaic system on school roofs, with plans to double capacity and add storage for municipal vehicle charging. The project is expected to slash the town’s electricity bill by about €200 000 per year. In nearby Germany, Hamburg set a record with 286 public‑building solar installations totalling 11 MW, underscoring a broader regional push for solar on municipal facilities.

Together, these initiatives illustrate Austria’s multi‑track approach—large‑scale wind and agri‑PV projects complemented by community‑level solar installations—to meet ambitious decarbonisation goals and enhance energy security.
