Austria recognizes vocational orientation initiatives in schools
Educational initiatives in Austria are receiving recognition for enhancing vocational guidance for students. In Vienna, the Fachmittelschule (FMS) Wien 23 hosted its seventh “Meet Your Future” event, a two-day career speed-dating session for ninth-grade students. The event involved approximately 60 companies, further education institutions, and social partners to facilitate direct exchange regarding apprenticeship and training opportunities.
In Tyrol, 16 schools were awarded the “Berufsorientierung Plus” seal of quality, an honor bestowed since 2005 to recognize excellence in career orientation. This year included a new special prize for innovative methods, awarded to PTS Telfs for using puppet theater to introduce primary school children to nursing professions. The award recipients receive a total of 5,000 euros in prize money, supported by various regional chambers of commerce and labor organizations.
