Austrian tourism sees growth in Styria and Lower Austria

Tourism in several Austrian regions has shown positive trends during the summer months. In Styria, the number of tourists from Italy increased by 36.2 percent. This growth is attributed to targeted marketing efforts, including advertising campaigns and a ‘Styria village’ in Jesolo, supported by an annual investment of approximately 250,000 euros. Tourism officials note that Styria’s focus on culinary offerings, such as regional food, wine, and beer, has been a key driver for Italian visitors. The upcoming Koralm Railway is also expected to improve accessibility from the south.

In Lower Austria, the tourism sector saw a recovery in July following declines in May and June. The region recorded 829,700 overnight stays, a 2.3 percent increase compared to the previous year. International arrivals in Lower Austria rose by 10.7 percent, while domestic arrivals increased by 7.3 percent. While most Austrian states reported growth in arrivals and overnight stays in July, Burgenland saw a decline specifically in domestic tourism, despite increases in international visitor numbers.
