Authentic Marathon of Athens unveils medal and T-shirt for 43rd edition
Preparations are underway for the 43rd Authentic Marathon of Athens, scheduled for November 7-8. The event is expected to see a record participation of approximately 85,000 runners across various distances.
At a press conference held at the Acropolis Museum, officials unveiled the official race T-shirt and the commemorative medal. Designed by sculptor Kyriakos Rokos, this year’s medal features a dove as a symbol of peace, alongside elements of the sun, sea, and a staircase representing the connection between intention and action.
The marathon is gaining international recognition, having joined the elite tier of the World Athletics federation, with discussions regarding hosting the World Athletics Championships in 2030. In conjunction with the main event, the APS Telmissos Marathon will host a month-long series of activities starting October 10, 2026, including a commemorative run and hike from the Marathon Tomb to the Marathon Running Museum.
