Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir conduct arrests in propaganda and drug conspiracy cases

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have conducted separate investigations involving arrests related to social media activity and a narcotics conspiracy.

Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) arrested two individuals, Mehran Qazi and Babar Hamid Dar, for allegedly disseminating radical and anti-national content on social media. The arrests followed searches at five locations where investigators seized six digital devices and seven SIM cards. The investigation is examining whether the suspects shared material intended to glorify terrorism or radicalize others, and if a wider network is involved.

In a separate incident, Jammu and Kashmir Police uncovered a plot to frame a man in a drug case. Police intercepted a parcel in the Ganderbal district containing approximately 4 kg of cocaine-mixed powder, 80 grams of charas, and psychotropic tablets. While a local poultry farmer was initially arrested, investigations into call records revealed a conspiracy involving the man's wife and her former boyfriend, Tariq Ahmad Sofi. Sofi allegedly confessed to attempting to implicate the husband in the narcotics case.
