Jammu and Kashmir counter-intelligence operations
Overview
The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu & Kashmir Police has conducted a series of operations targeting the online glorification of terrorism and radicalization.
On 8 August 2026, simultaneous raids were carried out across several districts, including Anantnag, Shopian, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora. These operations, linked to a 2023 FIR, resulted in the seizure of digital devices and communication equipment used to allegedly recruit individuals into terrorist organizations.
By 11 August 2026, authorities arrested two individuals, Mehran Qazi and Babar Hamid Dar, for allegedly disseminating radical and anti-national content on social media. Investigators seized six digital devices and seven SIM cards during searches at five locations to determine if a wider network is involved in spreading such material.
