Authorities investigate separate fatalities in Chile and Bolivia

Authorities in Chile and Bolivia are investigating separate incidents involving fatalities in water.

In Coquimbo, Chile, maritime authorities and the Investigative Police (PDI) are investigating the death of a crew member found inside the fishing vessel ‘Bianca Catalina II’. The emergency was reported on Saturday morning after a crew member was found without vital signs. The vessel is registered in Lebu, and the Homicide Brigade is conducting inspections to determine the exact circumstances of the death and whether third parties were involved.

In Tarija, Bolivia, the Naval Force recovered the body of 18-year-old Rodrigo Gareca Basco from the Bermejo River. Basco had been missing since September 2. After three days of searching in difficult conditions characterized by strong currents and depths of up to seven meters, his body was found floating near the Las Talitas sector. The body has been handed over to the relevant authorities for legal procedures.
