Authorities investigate suspected femicide in Ibagué

Authorities in Ibagué, Colombia, are investigating the death of 53-year-old Alba Rocío Pérez, which is being treated as a suspected femicide. Pérez was found unconscious in a residence in the Bella Suiza neighborhood on Tuesday, October 27.

Preliminary hypotheses suggest mechanical asphyxia may be the cause of death, pending forensic results. Henrry Salgado, the victim's partner, was captured at the scene. Police reported finding Salgado with several injuries during their entry into the home.

Family members have reported a history of aggressive behavior and jealousy from Salgado. Although the couple had reportedly ended their relationship, Salgado had been frequently visiting the residence. Neighbors reported hearing a plea for help from a window, and there are allegations that Salgado had placed a padlock on the door.
