Polish automotive market sees shifts in car pricing and consumer trends

The Polish automotive market is experiencing significant shifts in pricing and consumer behavior. According to an analysis by AURES Holdings, the average price of a used car in Poland rose by approximately 25% between 2021 and 2026, reaching 51,120 PLN. However, average gross monthly salaries grew faster during this period, increasing from 5,662 PLN to 9,563 PLN, which has improved the affordability of used vehicles relative to wages.

In the new car segment, manufacturers are responding to rising costs by reintroducing more affordable models. While prices for new vehicles in some regions have climbed by 30%, models like the Fiat Pandina and Dacia Sandero are targeting the lower price threshold of approximately 65,000 PLN in Poland.

Toyota is seeing notable success with its Aygo X model, which has captured a significant share of the shrinking A-segment in Poland, reaching a market share of over 60% in that category. This success is attributed to a shift in consumer preference toward hybrid powertrains as buyers move away from expensive electric vehicles following the end of government subsidy programs.
