Automakers target new segments with affordable EVs and brand expansion
Automakers are exploring different strategies to address affordability and market expansion in the electric vehicle sector. In the United States, companies like Stellantis are looking toward low-speed electric microcars to provide more accessible options. Fiat has introduced the Topolino, a compact two-seater electric vehicle with a starting price of approximately $13,995, targeting short urban trips as an alternative to more expensive SUVs and trucks.
In Spain, Chinese automotive brands OMODA and JAECOO, both under Chery Automobile, have seen significant growth, reaching over 55,000 customers. The brands are gaining market share through diverse mechanical options, modern designs, and extended warranties of up to eight years or 160,000 kilometers to build consumer trust in new technology.
