AutoZone looted in South Los Angeles following street takeover

A group of looters targeted an AutoZone located at 10013 S. Central Ave. in South Los Angeles around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026. The incident occurred following an alleged street takeover where several vehicles blocked an intersection. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that two individuals were taken into custody, though the total number of suspects involved in the burglary remains under investigation.

This incident follows a series of similar crimes in the region. Earlier this month, an AutoZone in East Los Angeles was hit twice within a 24-hour period by a group of approximately 27 alleged looters. Those raids resulted in the theft of at least $50,000 in merchandise and three cash registers. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has released photos of the suspects from the East Los Angeles incidents to assist in identification.
