Black Clover returns with second season after five-year hiatus

The anime series Black Clover has returned after a five-year hiatus, with the second season premiering on October 3, 2026. Produced by Studio Pierrot, the new season marks a shift toward a seasonal production format intended to provide higher technical quality and avoid the filler content seen in previous long-running series.

This new installment adapts the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc and the final arcs of Yuki Tabata’s manga. The season is expected to consist of approximately 26 episodes, potentially split into two cours, with the second part scheduled for 2027. Director Ayataka Tanemura, who previously worked on the franchise's film, has expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming battles and new enemies.

While the return is highly anticipated, some viewers have noted the fast-paced narrative. Early episodes appear to adapt several manga chapters per episode, leading to speculation that the season may conclude the series' run within the next year. The premiere features themes by WANIMA and ONE OR EIGHT, and includes collaborations such as a watch-along event with Hololive VTuber Subaru Oozora.
