Italy weather forecast: Atlantic disturbance followed by anticyclone

Italy is set to experience a period of weather instability driven by an Atlantic disturbance originating from the British Isles. Between Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, heavy rainfall and a drop in temperatures of 2-3°C are expected across much of the country. Significant precipitation is forecasted for Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, and Tuscany, with potential snow at high altitudes in the eastern Alps. The instability will likely extend toward the Adriatic coast, affecting Abruzzo, Molise, and the Gargano region.

Following this cold spell, a major meteorological shift is expected starting Monday, October 26. An expanding anticyclone will bring stable, sunny conditions and warmer sub-tropical air masses to much of the Mediterranean basin. This high-pressure system is expected to last through the end of October, raising maximum temperatures to between 18-20°C in northern cities and up to 22°C in central regions like Rome and Florence, as well as in Sicily and Sardinia.
