Iran weather warnings issued for heavy rain and wind across 28 provinces
The Iran Meteorological Organization has issued warnings for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds across 28 provinces. A weather system is expected to be active from Sunday through Wednesday, impacting various regions including Ardabil, Azerbaijan provinces, Gilan, Mazandaran, Lorestan, and parts of Kerman and Hormozgan.
In West Azerbaijan, officials have warned of potential flash floods, rising river levels, and street flooding due to intense rain showers. Emergency management and relief agencies have been advised to take precautions, including clearing bridges and canals to manage potential flooding. Citizens are advised to avoid camping near riverbanks or traveling unnecessarily during heavy downpours.
In addition to precipitation, a second weather system is expected to cause strong winds and dust storms in the central and eastern parts of the country, potentially reducing visibility and air quality. Temperatures are also expected to decrease in northern provinces and the Ardabil region.
