Avatr to launch luxury electric SUV in Australia by 2027

Avatr, a premium electric vehicle brand under the Changan Group, has confirmed its entry into the Australian market with the release of the Avatr 07L SUV, scheduled for the first half of 2027. The brand is a joint venture between Changan, battery manufacturer CATL, and technology firm Huawei.

The 07L is a large electric SUV featuring 800-volt architecture and rapid-charging capabilities. In the Chinese market, the vehicle offers various configurations, including a single rear-wheel-drive motor or an all-wheel-drive tri-motor setup producing up to 712kW. The model is designed with an emphasis on “Emotive Luxury,” incorporating advanced infotainment via the proprietary Avatr OS and a Meridian sound system.

Pre-orders for the model are expected to open by the end of 2026. Prototypes of the vehicle have already been sighted undergoing testing in New South Wales.
