Avellino prosecutors investigate seven after fatal industrial roof fall

The Avellino Prosecutor's Office has placed seven individuals under investigation for manslaughter following a fatal workplace accident in Prata Principato Ultra. The victim, 55-year-old Pietro Pellegrino from Sassano, died after falling approximately 12 meters from the roof of a disused industrial facility.

Preliminary investigations suggest the accident occurred while Pellegrino was dismantling and transporting photovoltaic panels. He reportedly stepped on a fiberglass skylight that gave way, causing him to fall.

Investigators are focusing on workplace safety protocols, including the availability and use of personal protective equipment, as well as the oversight responsibilities of those involved in the project. The suspects include individuals linked to the client commissioning the work, the executing company, and the site's safety management. An autopsy has been ordered to further clarify the dynamics of the death.
