Workplace fatality investigation in Italy
Overview
In Prata Principato Ultra, the Avellino Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the death of 55-year-old Pietro Pellegrino. The victim died after falling approximately 12 meters from the roof of a disused industrial facility while dismantling and transporting photovoltaic panels.
Preliminary findings indicate the fall occurred when the victim stepped on a fiberglass skylight that gave way. Investigators are currently examining workplace safety protocols, the use of personal protective equipment, and the oversight responsibilities of the project’s management. Seven individuals linked to the commissioning client, the executing company, and site safety management have been placed under investigation for manslaughter.
