Avianca and Plus Ultra boost Spain‑Latin America flight network this summer

Avianca is expanding its transatlantic service this summer, operating 67 weekly frequencies from its four European bases in Madrid, Barcelona, London and Paris. The airline added a new nonstop route between Madrid and San Salvador, served by Wamos Air with an Airbus A330, and increased frequencies on its Bogotá connections to four daily flights. The move aims to capture higher demand for multi‑destination travel between Spain and Central and South America.

Plus Ultra launched a new Madrid‑Buenos Aires service, initially offering two weekly flights with Airbus A330s that will be raised to five per week from July. The route commemorates the centenary of the historic Plus Ultra hydro‑plane flight that first linked Spain and South America, and the airline views it as a step toward gaining market share on this competitive corridor.
