Aviancia launches direct San Salvador‑Madrid seasonal service

Avianca announced the start of a seasonal direct route between San Salvador, El Salvador, and Madrid, Spain, with the first flight departing on 15 June. The service will operate until 15 September 2026, offering four weekly frequencies and roughly 2,300 seats per week (about 35,000 seats in total). Flights are operated by Wamos Air using Airbus A330 aircraft that seat 288 passengers.

The airline and the Spanish embassy highlighted the route’s role in expanding tourism, business travel and family reunification, strengthening ties between Central America and Europe. President Nayib Bukele’s infrastructure strategy and the modernisation of El Salvador’s international airport were cited as contributing factors.

The new connection is expected to boost passenger flows during the summer peak, complementing the airport’s recent growth of over two million passengers this year.
