AVM releases FRITZ!Box laboratory updates for bug fixes and traffic prioritization
AVM has released new laboratory firmware updates for several FRITZ!Box models, providing a preview of the upcoming FRITZ!OS 8.50. These test versions focus on bug fixes and performance enhancements.
A critical update for the FRITZ!Box 7590 and 7590 AX addresses a PPPoE-Passthrough bug on the DSL connection. This fix allows secondary network devices behind the router to independently establish their own PPPoE internet connections. Additionally, the 7690 model receives minor system adjustments and improved update notification displays.
New laboratory versions of FRITZ!OS 8.40 also introduce a feature designed to improve video conferencing stability. For specific models, including the 5690 Pro, 5690 XGS, and 5590 Fiber, the router will automatically identify and prioritize time-sensitive video call traffic over less critical data, such as background downloads, to prevent stuttering during meetings.
