AVM releases FritzOS 8 updates for FritzBox routers and Smart Gateway
AVM (Fritz) issued a FritzOS 8.20 update for the FRITZ!Smart Gateway, adding new automation capabilities such as phone‑call, target‑temperature and FRITZ!Box‑event triggers, expanded Zigbee device data (temperature, humidity), grouped blind control, smoother colour transitions for Zigbee lamps and several bug fixes.
In parallel, beta FritzOS versions were made available for two router models: the FritzBox 7590 AX received FritzOS 8.40, which now permits router names in UTF‑8 encoding and includes improved offline help and translations; the FritzBox 5690 XGS got FritzOS 8.24, focusing on WLAN interoperability and overall system stability. Users can install the updates via the router interface or download the firmware from AVM’s laboratory site, with a restore function provided for the beta software.
