AVM releases new firmware across Fritz! routers, repeaters and Smart Home devices
German networking firm AVM has issued a series of firmware updates for several Fritz! product lines. Two FritzRepeater models (2700 and 1700) receive a beta version of FritzOS 8.24, improving 5 GHz reliability and interference handling. The FritzSmart Energy 200/210 units are updated to firmware 4.32, adding automatic overload shutdown, while FritzSmart Control 440 moves to version 5.45 with UI refinements.
Five FritzBox routers enter regular operation with FritzOS 8.40, bringing general stability and update‑behavior enhancements. In addition, the FritzBox 6850 5G and 6860 5G models are rolled out OS 8.25, which introduces six new functions: an online monitor, mesh‑network optimisation, expanded Smart‑Home options, simplified NAS folder sharing, a revised child‑protection interface, and Energy Efficient Ethernet for lower power consumption. Users can install the updates via the router’s system‑update menu.
