AVM updates FRITZ!OS to automate gaming and video traffic prioritization

AVM is rolling out updates via its FRITZ!Lab program to improve router performance and functionality. The upcoming FRITZ!OS 8.50 firmware introduces automatic traffic prioritization designed to stabilize gaming and video conferencing. Unlike traditional Quality-of-Service (QoS) settings that require manual configuration, this new system automatically identifies and prioritizes time-critical data over background downloads or streaming. Users can view prioritization status in the interface, with data available for up to 24 hours retrospectively.

Additionally, a new update for the FRITZ!Lab addresses a bug affecting the PPPoE Passthrough function on three specific models: the 7690, 7590 AX, and 7590. This fix restores the ability for the router to act as a modem, allowing secondary devices to connect to an ISP using their own credentials via a DSL connection. The update also includes minor improvements to information displays within the user interface.
