AWS expands AI agent capabilities with Bedrock AgentCore updates

AWS announced new functionality for its Amazon Bedrock AgentCore platform on June 17, adding the ability for agents to access organizational data, web content and paid knowledge sources. Managed Knowledge Base and Web Search are now generally available, and continuous‑learning and governance tools let enterprises monitor and improve agent behavior. The features launch in the US West (us‑west‑2) region, with additional integrations planned for security vendors.

In the same week, AWS highlighted several other enhancements: the Grok 4.3 model is now on Bedrock, AI‑native security services under the AWS Continuum brand were introduced, and a new local zone opened in Hanoi, Vietnam, enabling local S3 and EBS backups. Amazon ECS auto‑scaling speeds were cut dramatically, S3 now supports per‑object annotations up to 1 GB, and a preview framework called AWS Blocks targets TypeScript developers. Pricing changes include up to an 80% reduction for S3 vector queries and free network bandwidth for GameLift servers, as well as lower professional services fees on the Marketplace.
