AWS launches Graviton5 ARM processor for AI‑agent workloads

Amazon Web Services announced the general availability of its in‑house Graviton5 ARM processor, aimed at generative‑AI and autonomous‑agent workloads. The 3 nm chip packs 192 cores, five times more cache than its predecessor, DDR5‑8800 memory and PCIe Gen 6, delivering up to 25 % higher general compute performance and 35 % gains on machine‑learning inference. It reduces core‑to‑core latency by up to 33 % and improves network bandwidth and storage I/O.

Graviton5 powers the new EC2 M9g instances for compute‑intensive jobs and M9gd instances with up to 11.4 TB of local NVMe SSD for storage‑heavy tasks. Over 120 000 customers have already migrated to Graviton, with major users such as Meta, Uber, Snowflake, SAP, Airbnb and Atlassian reporting substantial performance improvements. Security is enhanced by the sixth‑generation Nitro system and a new Nitro Isolation Engine that provides mathematically verified workload isolation. AWS positions the chip as a strategic move to control the full stack from silicon to cloud services as AI agents become mainstream.
