Axel Kicillof Expands 2027 Election Strategy Across Argentine Provinces

Governor Axel Kicillof is steering a coordinated political effort to position the Partido Justicialista for a comeback in the 2027 provincial elections. In Mendoza, party leaders are aligning local mayors and young technocrats with Kicillof’s agenda, seeking internal consensus to avoid factional splits and to present a unified alternative for the governorship.

At the national level, Kicillof is advancing the Movimiento Derecho al Futuro (MDF) through a covert network of twelve senior officials who communicate via a WhatsApp group called “Provincias.” The group includes Vice‑Governor Verónica Magario, ministers Andrés Larroque, Daniel Katopodis, Walter Correa, and former mayors such as Jorge Ferraresi. Their task is to visit municipalities, gauge political conditions and promote the MDF brand in all 135 districts of Buenos Aires Province and beyond, while explicitly refusing to hand over the MDF franchise to other factions. Recent outreach has reached Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, Córdoba and plans are underway for Mendoza, signaling a broader provincial rollout ahead of the 2027 contests.
