Axel Witsel reaches agreement with OGC Nice

Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel has reportedly reached an agreement to join the French club OGC Nice. The 37-year-old, who most recently played for Girona FC in Spain, is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract.

The proposed deal is for a one-year contract with an option for an additional year. The transfer is currently awaiting final validation from INEOS, the club's owner. This move would mark the first time in Witsel's career that he plays in France.

OGC Nice is seeking midfield reinforcements following injuries and player departures. Witsel brings extensive experience to the squad, having previously played for clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Atlético Madrid, and Zenit Saint Petersburg, as well as earning 138 caps for the Belgian national team.
