Ayabaca vehicle accident leaves one dead and three injured

A fatal vehicle accident occurred in the Ayabaca province near the Frías Andean plateau. A pickup truck traveling from Chiclayo veered off the road and fell approximately 150 meters into an abyss in the Mastrante area of the El Tambo district.

The crash resulted in the death of the driver, identified as José Merardo Díaz Alvites. A police officer, a woman, and a minor sustained injuries and were transported to a local clinic for emergency treatment.

Authorities from the Traffic Accident Protection and Investigation Unit (Upiat) in Piura are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Local reports indicate that 129 people have died in traffic accidents in the Piura region so far this year.
