Fatal vehicle accidents in Peru

Overview

A series of fatal and injurious vehicle accidents have been reported across various regions in Peru.

In late August, a Suzuki pickup truck overturned on the Panamericana highway in the Lampa province, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old driver. Shortly after, in the Ayabaca province, a pickup truck traveling from Chiclayo fell approximately 150 meters into an abyss, killing the driver and injuring a police officer, a woman, and a minor.

In mid-September, an accident occurred in Ica on the Panamericana highway when a Ford pickup truck collided with a parked vehicle, overturned, and caught fire. Witnesses reported that the driver, who may have been intoxicated, allegedly fled the scene in a mototaxi following the collision.
