Ayacucho regional government faces anemia and education challenges
The incoming regional administration of Ayacucho faces critical challenges regarding public health and education. Key priorities identified include addressing anemia, malnutrition, violence, and educational gaps.
According to 2024 data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), anemia affects 45.7% of children aged 6 to 35 months in Ayacucho, with rural areas seeing higher rates at 52.2% compared to 39.6% in urban areas.
In the education sector, experts suggest focusing on the implementation of the Regional Educational Project (PER) 2025-2036 rather than creating new policies. This includes improving teacher training through a regional capacity-building system and conducting infrastructure diagnostics to prioritize interventions.
