Aydın's Çine forest fire sparks massive multi‑agency response FAST-MOVING
A forest fire ignited at 15:00 on 30 July 2026 in Kavşit Mahallesi, Çine district of Aydın Province. Strong winds spread the blaze toward the Mutaflar, Tatarmemiş and Dutluoluk neighbourhoods, prompting evacuations of roughly 150 households.
The response was coordinated by the General Directorate of Forestry and involved 478 personnel, 153 ground vehicles and eight air assets (five helicopters and three aircraft). Agencies taking part included AFAD, the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, the gendarmerie, police, health services, the State Water Works and numerous local municipalities and NGOs. Governor Dr Osman Varol inspected the scene and received briefings from officials.
During firefighting operations a construction vehicle (CIP) lost control on a fire road near Madran Dağı, rolled into a ravine and injured its driver; the cause of the accident remains under investigation. Animal herds were evacuated to the Çine Live‑Animal Market, and two firefighters were injured while fighting the fire.
