Turgay Tamer found dead in Istanbul home amid Kozinoğlu probe
Turgay Tamer, a former campus doctor at Silivri Prison who was recently detained as part of the reopened investigation into the 2011 death of former MİT official Kaşif Kozinoğlu, was found dead in his home in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul. Tamer's wife discovered his unresponsive body in their apartment after returning from a 12-day trip to Moldova.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the death, which is being treated as suspicious. Tamer had been released under judicial control with a travel ban following his detention in the Kozinoğlu case. The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office clarified that Tamer was a campus doctor, not a forensic medicine specialist, and noted that he had not been notified of Kozinoğlu's deteriorating health at the time of the incident, meaning he had not provided medical intervention.
In a related development within the broader Kozinoğlu investigation, Pana Film director İhsan Karademir was also released under judicial control with a ban on traveling abroad following his testimony. Tamer's body has been sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
