ÇAYKUR imposes temporary fresh‑tea quota during Eid al‑Adha

Turkey’s state tea board, ÇAYKUR, announced a short‑term quota on fresh tea purchases after the Kurban Bayramı holiday. The measure was taken because the volume of tea bought during the holiday exceeded the agency’s daily processing capacity of 9,500 tons. On the second day of the holiday 9,000 tons were purchased, on the third day 12,000 tons and on the fourth day 13,000 tons, pushing the system beyond its limits.

ÇAYKUR said the quota aims to protect tea quality and ensure that the processing plants can handle the influx without compromising standards. The limitation will be lifted after a few days once stocks normalize and normal purchasing procedures can resume.
