Ayoub El Kaabi undergoes surgery after severe leg fracture
Olympiacos striker Ayoub El Kaabi has undergone successful surgery following a severe leg injury sustained during a Greek Super League match against Volos. The incident occurred in the 43rd minute when El Kaabi collided with Volos goalkeeper Mario Siampanis. Medical examinations confirmed that the Moroccan international suffered fractures to both the tibia and fibula in his left leg.
Initial medical estimates suggest El Kaabi will be sidelined for approximately six to seven months. The surgery was performed at the P. Faliro Clinic in Athens by Dr. Christos Theos and his medical team. Olympiacos released an official statement expressing full support for the player during his rehabilitation process.
The match between Volos and Olympiacos ended in a 1-1 draw. In addition to El Kaabi's injury, Olympiacos player Joel Rocha also left the pitch due to a shoulder dislocation. The club is now considering roster adjustments for its Europa League campaign to address the significant void left by El Kaabi's absence.
