Ayrton Senna’s 1991 Honda NSX sells for R$ 6.3 million

A 1991 Honda NSX once used by Formula 1 champion Ayrton Senna has been sold for 871,000 pounds, approximately R$ 6.3 million, at an RM Sotheby’s auction in London. The vehicle, identified by chassis number T000233, was part of a fleet of cars provided by Honda for Senna’s personal use in Portugal.

The red Formula Red NSX featured a black roof and dark leather interior. It was famously used by Senna during the 1991 European season, including the Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril. The car is also recognized from iconic photographs of the driver washing the vehicle and from the 1992 documentary, “Ayrton Senna: Racing Is In My Blood”.

Technically, the model is noted for its aluminum monocoque structure and V6 engine. The sale price exceeded initial estimates, which had placed the value between 500,000 and 800,000 pounds.
