Ayrton Senna memorabilia auctions
Overview
High profile auctions of items belonging to Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna have achieved significant results. A 1991 Honda NSX used by Senna in Portugal sold at an RM Sotheby’s auction in London for approximately 871,000 pounds, or roughly R$ 6.3 million. This sale exceeded initial estimates and set a new world auction record for the NSX model.
Further auction preparations include the sale of the Williams FW16 chassis number 01 in New York. This single seater was the last car driven by Senna during 1994 winter testing and the Brazilian Grand Prix warm up. The chassis was preserved following a contract clause that granted the Senna family a car if Williams won the constructors' title in 1994.
