Azerbaijan hosts conference on AI's impact on media sector

A conference titled ‘The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Media Sector’ was held at the Azerbaijan Press Council. Organized by the Public Union for Support of Innovative Initiatives in Media (MİTDİB), the event focused on the opportunities and risks presented by generative AI in the media landscape.

Rashad Majid, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council, emphasized the necessity of discussing these technologies to increase efficiency and properly assess new challenges. Mushfiq Alaskarli, head of MİTDİB, noted that the project, supported by the State Agency for Support of Non-Governmental Organizations, aimed to research international theoretical approaches to AI use in media.

The project has resulted in a database and 12 articles published across various media outlets. Additionally, there is an increasing trend in Azerbaijan toward establishing ethical and professional guidelines for AI, with some media organizations, such as ‘Xalq Qəzeti’, beginning to develop internal codes of conduct for AI usage.
